What We Believe
We believe that God is the creator of the universe, and remains active in our day guiding the universe to its planned completion, which is to glorify Him.
We believe that God is one, as stated in the Old Testament. However, God has revealed himself in history by three personalities referred to as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and the only Redeemer of mankind. He was incarnated in human flesh in the womb of Mary, a virgin; he lived a perfectly righteous life on earth; his death on the cross is the sacrifice and atonement needed to cleanse the sins of each person; he died on the cross, was buried, and came back to life in spirit and body; he ascended to the Father; he will one day return to judge all the earth and reign eternally.
We believe that at the return of Christ, all who belong to Him will have their spirit united with their imperishable bodies to be with God forever.
We believe Heaven and hell are real places. In the judgment, the lost will be condemned to eternal separation from God in hell; and the saved will be rewarded with eternal life to enjoy God's presence forever.
We believe all people sin. Sin separates us from God, who desires a relationship with us as our loving, merciful and just Father. The ultimate consequence of unforgiven sin is spiritual death, i.e. separation from God for eternity. No amount of goodness, good works, or “being a church member” can restore the relationship with God that we break when we sin. We believe and teach that we are saved by grace, through faith, a gift of God, not by works, so that no man may boast; an “alive” faith will show itself through obedience and good works; and we are created in Jesus to do good works.
We believe faith comes by hearing the word of God, we are called to confess Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God, to repent (acknowledge our sins and change direction) and be baptized; baptism/immersion is the point at which we identify ourselves with Christ, die to our old selves, are cleansed by the blood of Christ and begin a new life in Him. Without faith baptism is an empty ritual.
We believe the Bible is inspired by God in its original writing, and it is the final authority for our beliefs and practices.
We believe that the Holy Spirit comes to live within those redeemed by Christ. He, helps us in our weakness, intercedes with God for us, strengthens us to follow and serve Jesus, and gives us direction for living life God’s way.
